Ok, I think I've joined the ranks of Model owners. Last night I went to Nashville Used Music and scored a (I think) Model 4 and (flack suit on) Peavey Nitro (banana headstock, not the sharkhead one).
I think it's a Model 4 because it has an H-S-S layout, and a Kahler Pro. It's not the nicest, only a single Full Shred pickup (easy to tell - only SD pickup with two rows of allen heads). The three switch holes were covered with a chrome Harley Davidson skull and cross bone sticker, making it look like it only has Volume and Tone. Single coil holes are empty. Neck and body (black) seemed to be in descent shape. Kahler with chrome trem bar is in good shape and locking nut is fine. No Case.
The Peavey Nitro is a MIA I believe, has the 2700 Killer trem, single hum, but here's the bad part - the trem post and wood holding them is like broke / smashed / pulled forward. Has the Kahler locking nut and hardware and two bars (chrome and black). Headstock is that banana look with 3D layers cut out of it. No Case.
NUM Closed 5 minutes after I got there so I had to act fast - didn't really get a chance to try anything out.
I went to GC afterward and brought the Nitro into the store to hook up and mess with. Well, even with the bridge pulled forward / upward / off it's post, it was still tunable (I tune it to D to relieve tension) and really had a blast playing it in the sound room with a 1969 Marshall 100 watt Super Bass, a Mark II+ Mesa, and a 100 watt Hiwatt. Cranked up it sounded great playing Preist, Maiden, Telsa, Lynch, etc.
So, my questions to you:
Is it a Model 4 from what I described?
What wood is a Model 4? I think basswood?
What would you pay for these two fine instuments?
