My Model 4 trem rout isn't wide enough for OFR bar collet.
    Models
The prudes may snub them, but I don't care.
    I dont need furniture.
If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.
    And rock that sucker.

My OFR was a direct drop into my Model 6 with the new studs (www.fretsonthenet.com). But I've also heard some like Tricky needed to do a small amount of routing.

You can use the original studs. The studs budman makes (by the way it's fretsonthenet.com ) are nice but not absolutely necessary.

Yes, with a 42mm FR block. I haven't tried it with other block sizes. Although the original posts worked, mine were pretty beat up so I eventually went with Dave's posts and couldn't be happier with it.

An OFR is a bit wider than a JT-6, and every once in a while there is some rubbing of the collet (or socket that the trem bar goes into) at the bottom edge of the trem route. It seems to happen more often on USA Jacksons that had JT-6s than on Model Series Charvels for some reason, maybe because of tighter tolerances. Anyway, it's not likely that you'll have the problem, but if you do, it's a very easy fix to remove a little bit of wood from that part of the route.

I think all the after-market OFR are made in Germany. Some of the OFR that come standard on newer guitars (such as the new USA Charvels) are made in Korea.

The collet for the trem bar would not fit in the body rout that the block goes down into. The side of the rout Closest to the knobs was the problem area. I didn't mod the rout, I just ground a little off of the collet nut.

The one I have on the Model 4, is a black OFR with threaded bar, that came off of a striped 80s Kramer.
