So what you are telling me is that you agree that a regular strat SUCKS ASS. Can't have one with vintage pickups? I at least have two - both 1996 MIMs, one a Classic 50s with Texas Specials and one a Standard no mods. Let's say they get used so much they have ZERO fretwear.

No take my HM Strat and OMG I love that stupid pink thing! The short scale, locking trem and pickups somehow work together to NAIL Maiden tones, but no one in there right mind would play Maiden with a PINK GUITAR.

In all honesty, I bought the 50s to make a cheap Dave Murray with it, but hate that damn vintage radius and frets. Now thinking of selling and building from parts.

It's about the shape and feel to me. I don't consider a hard tail strat a strat either.

What is a "classical Strat" ? For me, its the combination of body-shape and headstock-shape.
Not the pickup-configuration !
Of course, I didn't sell the 5fx to afford the Fender; I just sold a guitar, that never got played and bought some other guitar, that I always wanted to have.

In fact, my wife came up with that question ("did you sell that cool guitar to buy that ugly one ?"),
and I thought, what would the JCF-guys think ?! Now I know...

these guys can play metal on low output single coils - Ritchie Blackmore, Uli Roth and Yngwie. but you might not be able to?

Not sure about all of them, this one was picked by Perry from Ormsbys he put his pickups in it and did the set up, it is better than the Les Paul I brought for my son last year. Oh and the price was rite.
