P'ups on Charvel Model 4

I have a cute, white Charvel Model 4. Love the neck and so on, but don't really love the way it plays. I mean, I have a Peavey HP Special and I find it sounding way better. Charvel seems to be rather... muddy? Hard to explain, but it's certainly not as selective as I'd like it to be
Anyone has any suggestions on what pickups I should use to make it sound more peavey alike? I mean more mid tones, better selectivity in low end. I was thinking about SH-4, what do you think? Or DP100?

No matter what you do, the Peavey HP Special is going to blow the model 4 away.

You sure? Love my Peavey, but It seems that charvel's body is a bit more resonant than peavey's.
So any suggestions?

I had EMGs in my Model 4 and it sounded great. These are really great guitars and I would take any Model series Charvel over any Peavy any day of the week.

That said, you may want to experiment with Dimarzios similar to those in the Wolfgang. Tonezone/air norton neck something like that... Oh neck singles.... Chopper.

Yes, I'm sure. The HP Special has custom pups that sound awesome. At least on mine. It is also 2X as expensive as the Model 4. You get what you pay for.

Turk has no idea in this particular case. Charvels Model's any number would pale against an HP Special. Mine is similar in quality to a DK1 and better sounding than my soloist with SD's. Yes, Peavey isn't known for guitars but the HP Special and to a lesser extent the Wolfgangs were the exceptions.

I didn't say anything about Peavy's quality - I simply stated what I would do if I had to choose between the two. There's nothing I find remotely attractive about the Peavy.

Makeajazznoisehere - I think you meant these old T-xx guitars? I bet you wouldn't say that about Peavey Tracers which are a lot like Charvels

And Wolfgang is amazing, love the body style so much, shame that HP Specials don't look the same...

The T-60 is meh. The Tracer is OK, but it's just like a Charvel, as you said. The Wolfgang IMO is pretty fugly, something about it says "Down's Syndrome" to me.
