Model 4 question

I am giving my 87 model 4 a complete makeover and i have removed the neck from the body. The wiring was removed many years ago and I just noticed a wiring hole from the neck pocket that goes through to the front pup route. Does anyone know what that is for? A front ground wire? I am doing a lynch/bengal tiger stripe theme. I will post some pics when she is all done.

They drill the hole for the pickup wires from the neck pocket through.
