I have played the new guitars but cannot really talk about them until after Charvel makes their announcement official on August 1st. If you have an issue with it not saying USA on the headstock than it won't really matter how good they are. If all you care about is a great guitar for a decent price and you really liked the previous Pro Mods I think you will be quite happy.

We'll for what it's worth, what's it going to matter?
Special note: I have 8 or 9 of them...and I like them just fine. So don't go all apeshit.
It's a pretty simple guitar to make.
CNC routed body
CNC routed neck
MIK Floyd...won't have far to travel
Mad-in-wherever soft 'gigbag'....WTFs up with that anyway
Bolt on neck
All they need is a couple of good Asian fret pounders, although they might have a machine doing that now too. There was just nothing really special about any of the USA Production made guitars anyway.
I guess I would call them 'workhorses' or 'practice guitars' or 'my bitch'....'daily driver' if you will.
To me a real "real Charvel" is something that Mike Shannon or Grover Jackson builds.
The simple truth is that they were probably perceived to be diverting sales away from USA custom shop guitars. Fender just figured that when a dude is pending $600 to $1000 on a guitar that dude doesn't really care where it come from as long as it made to a certain level of quality.
Is a CNC machine that's sitting on high priced california turf any better than one is that's sitting in japan?
Beside pretty soon california is going to break off into the sea and we can all breath a sigh of relief.

I always knew Fender would put the Charvel name back in the gutter again and given time they will do just that. They just don't know any better. They just don't know how to make money with the name basically because they're a bunch of idiots.
In this economy the dealers couldn't sell them so Fender couldn't sell them to the dealers, period. They weren't a drag on the custom shop unless guys bought 5 of these (laying out 4 grand or so) instead of plopping 3K on a CS and 1K on a Pro-Mod.
I'm sure the new guitars will be great, and when the MIK and Indonesian ones follow I'm sure they'll be great too. As far as the CS, they ain't selling many of those 3-4K jobs right now no matter where the budget line is made. There will be those that say "I don't care where it's made". I'm glad they feel that way....and "Charvel" has the answer to your dreams. Jusr dial up Bionic and he'll lay the Charvel copies all over you.
Now, if you want one of the Pro-Mods then go get it. I would. it isn't that they aren't going to be around, but those w/o "floyds" will be for sale less and less because those are the keepers IMHO.Why the hell doesn't Eddie pick up a goddamned guitar and play something?
