Why? Nothing to think about really. You're either buying or you aren't. If it's swayed by a SN plate, maybe you should just stick with the Custom Shop.

Great! Now I can get a black So-Cal, and convert it to SSS with a white pickguard.

I'm definately not buying because of the serial number plate. "Made in USA" means something to me when it comes to Charvels. That's just my perogative. I have a model 6 Japan made guitar and it's a VERY good guitar. My wife that "doesn't give a shit" as stated above bought me that as well as the real SD Jackson I have.

I just remember all the confusion way back when everybody with a Fort Worth TX plated Charvel thought they had a USA made guitar and were trying to sell them at USA prices. They might do something with the serial numbers to distinguish them and they might not.

It's just something I thought of and mentioned it. No need to get all torn up about it.....

Did I say whether I did or didn't? I was honestly wondering if your wife partook in talking guitars with you because mine doesn't...

We still don't know what the neck plate will say on it so why assume the worst?

                It's definitely. DEFINITELY.

                No A in there.

                The root word is FINITE.

Why do folks put an A in there?

I don't think that came out right, I'm not saying that I'm not going to buy one because of the neckplate. I have other reasons for not getting one. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what is going to be on the neckplate. I just thought of it and mentioned it is all.

They spell it that way so they can give people who care about spelling like us a brain aneurysm. That was one of the top spelling mistakes when I was forced to peer edit a few essays at school as part of a class.
                      "Dear Dr. Bill,
I work with a woman who is about 5 feet tall and weighs close to 450 pounds and has more facial hair than ZZ Top." - Jack The Riffer

"OK, we can both have Ben..joint custody. I'll have him on the weekends. We could go out in my Cobra and give people the finger..weather permitting of course.." -Bill Z. Bub

I hear ya. I would hope Charvel wouldn't do something silly like that and put a USA address on it or use "San Dimas" or anything like that.

Maybe they'll pull a history lesson and use the USA HQ's. Then we would have Scottsdale, AZ neckplates. :P

Oh my god, I leave the thread alone for a day and I come back to an arguement over neck plates, wives that give or don't give a shot about guitars and the forums new bloody spell checker, what is wrong with this board! Guitars are meant for playing, not for examining!

Hey Mazz...I could be a real dick and tell you that, since you asked a question, you should have used a "?" instead of a "!," but that's for another day...

The issue with this type of thread is you will NEVER please everyone all of the time. Some people want USA only, others don't mind Japan. Some people want special colors, others don't mind standard red/white/black. Some people like black hardware, some like chrome. Some people want neckplates that say where the guitar was actually made, some don't care what the neckplate says. Some people like direct mount pickups, some people like mounting rings. The list is endless.

While I personally won't rip someone if they like something I don't or don't like something I do, I personally can't stand the incessant bitching about little things, especially those things that you can change yourself, like pickups and hardware color. For God sake, if you like a guitar, but you wish it had chrome hardware instead of black, spend a couple extra bucks and make it what you want. You can offset most of the cost of the new stuff by selling the original parts! Otherwise, don't bitch about the cost of a Custom Shop.

Look, if you won't buy these because they're now made in Japan, it doesn't matter to me...it's your opinion and your opinion is not wrong! I don't mind that kind of stuff at all. But, in those instances where it's just ridiculous (see hardware above), there are some of us--myself included--that like to have a little fun and mess around with people...if they get offended by it, I think that too is a little ridiculous. It's called sarcasm. It's called fun. Have a laugh and get over it.

And to anyone that thinks this post was directed at them, there's a real treasure of a tune on Carly Simon's greatest hits made just for you...or, is it?
