  • Charvel 475 Deluxe

    Its a 1990 Charvel 475 Deluxe and it was sold as being in a "bad" condition ! Well, it is:

    A lot of work to do... I'll post some pics, when I'm done !
    Anyway, a nice finish, the JE-1200 is still there and 22 frets neck with MoP sharkfins is cool;
    I'm really looking forward to play her (in a few days) !

    Holy moses! The trem cavity mess with the screws acting as stop, jeez!
    Are you going to do a fret level?

      That should clean up well. The trem is set to up only--lol.

        LOL @ the ball ends in the saddles. It looks like it needs some TLC but a nice one nonetheless.

          I'd be worried about water damage.

            I don't know, yet. I think, I'll play her a few hours, after everything else is fixed, and see if I can live with it

            No, it was blocked in both directions; the spring-claw was screwed, too - with the screw touching the J50BC on the other side !

            I had all the parts (new schaller bridge, J-200 pickup, tuners) lying aorund,
            so I knew it wouldn't take much extra money, except for the fret level, if necessary.

            Now I wait for some sunshine to make pictures;
            does anybody know, what that finish was actually called ? Golden Barbed Wire ?

                There's a BC Rick in that color on ebay I saw last night.

                    If the wiring is messed up and you want it compared to an original, let me know and I'll open up my 475 Deluxe (original I think).

                      Thanks a lot for that offer, Henrik ! But it looks and sounds OK !
                      Honestly, I was surprised and impressed by the sound ! Made me think about re-installing the JE-1200 in my Soloist.

                      The neck feels a bit "chunky" to me, like a Model neck;
                      but switching back and forth from 24 fret short-scale to 22 fret "long"-scale requires some will to adaption anyway.
                      All in all I'm very happy with it (technically); now I will take care of the cosmetic aspects...
