Now my yellow Model 3 has a sister.
When I got this, the the paint and pickguard was really rough, it needed a refret because it looked like someone took a chisel to the top of the frets, the wiring was trashed, and the 2500 trem had to go.
I did some paint touch-up, drop fills, sand, and polish. Turned out a lot better than I expected. Usually get halo's around drop fills on poly, but I only had a couple of very small ones on the body edge. I sanded the pickguard and J90 with 3M Flexible polishing papers.
Pulled the frets, did some cleanup on the board, used .110/.053 wire, undercut the fret tangs and filled the slots at the edge of the board with rosewood dust & CA, sanded the edge of the board, and did a medium roll on the fretboard edge. I did a semi-hemi fret end dress. Also knocked the gloss down on the back of the neck with some steel wool. Back of the neck is clean.
Built up a new nut from a Graph Tech blank.
Rewired with CTS pots, Switchcraft stereo jack, and copper shielding tape.
I'm swapping the J90 out for an X2N on the next string change.
It now has a Kahler 2710 and new studs, and I filed the underside of the string lock and blocks. String lock was in pretty good shape.
Killer player now.
Crappy flash pic.
