was this ever release in the US?

Nope. Japan market only, mid to late '90s if I remember right. One or two of the eBay sellers who specialize in bringing Japanese stuff over had some of these for sale in the US a while back, and a couple of guys here have bought them. Most of them that we've seen are bolt-on with dot inlays, but I think the ones with sharkies are set neck. Here's a set neck one:

    Tekky's bolt-on version:

I like those silver sparkle ones. There was a seller in Japan listing a couple on Oz ebay a few years back, both bolt-on versions, one in the silver (like Tekky's) and the other in tobacco burst.

I remember the silver, blue and pink ones with dot inlays. Never seen them with sharks.

Cool! I didn't know you had that catalog, Henrik. All kinds of cool stuff in that one.

Yeah, it's the one with the Grover Jackson Junior guitars. The speaker equipped ones. With pictures of Dave and Marty posing with one each. I bet Dave wasn't too happy about that particular endorsee task

I've had a Black and a Silver, Both with dots,I got both from Yoshi's guitars, but he seems to have fallen of the face of the earth.

I think Yoshi used to ask around $400 for the bolt-ons, but that was a few years ago.
