Hmm, well how bout that. I was able to get the action on my Kelly down to 1.14 - 1.16 mm. 1.14 mm is the thickness of the picks I use. I used my pick to gauge the gap like GT said, so its approximate. Never wouldve thought I could get the action that low without buzz or dead frets. I guess it all comes down to the individual guitar and its particular build quality.

Next on the To-Do list will be replacing the stock J90C pickup…its way to muddy, I’m on the fence on either a Bill Lawrence 500 or a old Seymour Duncan 12BH; this was first gen “Scramin Demon” I just can’t make up my mind. I have a 500Xl in my Stealth and I love it, I don’t want both of my guitars to have the same tone, I want to use the model 2 for more of my 80ish metal so I’m favoring the 12BS.Charvel Model 2, Jackson Stealth EX, Jackson JTX, ESP/LTD 351D, USA Fender Telecaster, Epiphone L/P

Not sure what has been done to the axe before you got it, If anything, but that is not the norm for a Model.
One shim will usually do it.Models
The prudes may snub them, but I don't care.
I dont need furniture.
If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.
And rock that sucker.

I’m scratching my head on that myself? If you read my first post over this, I’ve got this guitar back in the late 80’s for a less then reputable source so the guitar is untouched and in the same condition it was in when I sold it to you bro and I know he did nothing but play it, I think replaced to vol. pot and that about it. The history of the guitar is a little questionable so now I’m wondering if it could really be a Charvel…..that is a story for another time and a lot of beer…..oh the shit we did when we where teenagers…. Did the late 80’s Charvel have any marking in the neck pocket cuss there is nothing in mine, I really starting to think the body is a copy?Charvel Model 2, Jackson Stealth EX, Jackson JTX, ESP/LTD 351D, USA Fender Telecaster, Epiphone L/P

Nothing in the pocket? well she's playable and I've never had to shim that much, that's what was freaking me out, like I said she's ready for a full set up so I will inspect the neck for strightness again and I think the shims that where in it make up about the thickness of a bus cards, plus what i added so about 2 bus card, this was one of the guitars that I let get away so I'm just happy to have it back, hands down one of the necks I've ever played on.......she fits like a glove.....lol

Looks like the knife blades on the trem are below the post grooves...if this is the case, you can't tilt it back to lower the action.
See that the trem is in the grooves, this would explain things.
And lose the shims..
Sorry if this response is late....good luck.sigpic
