  • My modded Wild Card #6 (pics)...

Here are some pics of my new Charvel Wildcard #6 I modded...

I put in a cream Dimarzio Super D hum, a cream Dimarzio HS-3 single, a Hipshot chrome covered solid brass hardtail, EVH zero friction pot, san dimas brass volume knob and san dimas brass strap buttons. I also put in a brass string tree, brass ferrules on the back and planet waves locking tunes. Had to fill the holes from the old tuners, sand, steel wool and lemon oil the back of the headstock after filling the original tuner screw holes, then install the locking tuners...

0000 steel wooled, the neck, frets and fretboard, Lemon oiled everything then hit is with the steel wool again once it was dry...

Required some "customization" of the HS-3 to fit the route (had to cut off some plastic) - same with the Hipshot (needed to drill new mounting holes, but all is cool now...

    Anyway, here ya go:

The bridge looks like a nice improvement. Does it match up perfectly in terms of intonation, mounting screw location, and string spacing? So these hardtail promods went right under my radar.

The original bridge is 2" string spacing and the new one is 2 1/16". It was not a problem. You just line up the center mounting hole with the original, screw it in and then drill two new holes for the left and right mounting holes (they are further apart). Intonation is no problem...

I don't dig the shape of the hipshot bridge, but everything else looks pretty badass

That Hipshot hardtail is a good bridge. The creme pickups & ring look great!

The all cream setup looks WAY better for sure.

Man I really like what you've done with this. I've been hoping they would put out a hard tail but I already have a candy tangerine USA model (which I love that color) so holding out hoping that they do a different color in the future. Awesome looking guitar there!

                        +1. Nice job.

IMHO, the factory appearance looked way too much like a "parts guitar". The all-cream look cleans that up nicely.
