  • My "New" Charvel - Model 4?

Got this today in a ridiculous trade and I am interested in finding out a few things about it. This is how I got it. Body only with a duncan detonator and the jt-6 was replaced with a floyd, but left the big ol studs and inserts. i did get the volume and tone knobs/pots and the electronics back plate, two of the three switches (one was broken) and the strap pins.

One, since it came with no neck or neck plate, I can't determine the year. I'm guessing 87-89 perhaps?

Second ... where can I find, and eBay is too ridiculous in prices ($129.99 for ONE pickup), parts for this? I need the neck, pups and active circuitry. The active/onboard really isn't THAT big of a deal if it's going to cost me a house payment, lol. But I did notice that a standard pickup ring is too small.

So, what I'm looking for is:

    Neck plate and screws
    Neck (with or without tuners/locknut)
Charvel or Jackson pickups (active boost harness preferred but not a deal killer)

Any help you all could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey newb, nice crackle Model 4 there! These were made in Japan from '86 to '88. You might be able to get smaller or hardware type of parts from Dave at http://www.fretsonthenet.com/ImCharv.htm

The best thing you can do is get a Platinum membership here (click on Go Platinum) so you can access the JCF classified section. Then you can ask for the above major parts in a "want to buy" ad, and at a lot better prices than you mentioned.

The Model 4 had a 22 fret neck with Sharkfin inlays. They average about $100-125.
      Pickups - J50 & two J200s. About $50-60 for a set.
Fort worth neck plate - about $20
If you pay much more, your getting screwed.

      Models
The prudes may snub them, but I don't care.
      I dont need furniture.
If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.
      And rock that sucker.

Thanks for the help! I looked on eBay and am just not too thrilled with the prices, so I'll give fretsonthenet.com a try and see if I can get lucky.

I may have to go platinum here as eBay is pissing me off with wanting $79 for the correct neckplate.

Really? I didn't know that! That's actually kind of cool to me, lol. Guess I'll just have to finish her up.

Trickys prices are right on... No reason to pay anything more than that! Be patient, youll find the good deals, just takes a bit of time is all.
