  • What's this Charvel? (650XL or Model 6 or Custom?)

Hi guys, I'm going to buy my 2nd Charvel (1st is a Charvel San Dimas Style 2 Pagan Gold!).
But I don't know which Model is.
Seller sais it's a 650XL he bought from Japan, and for him it has been repainted..
    Is that a particular Model?
    Thanks!

It's not a Model 6, they had the three mini-switches. Body wise it looks correct for a 650xl, but a 650XL would have the toothpaste logo on the headstock. You say it's a re-fin, so perhaps they couldn't find a toothpaste logo and got the old model series logo.

Yes Tricky. SL-145-SSH, Pearl White, could be from 1989. The only "problem" is the white background on the headstock.

Put it on ebay starting at .99 and no reserve. You'll find out.

I wouldn't pay more than $300.00 + shipping. Definitely looks like a toothpaste logo 650. Model 5's had 2 hum's and as stated earlier, 6's have the mini toggles. Pics are crappy too, you should see if you can get better ones and someone can tell for sure. Good luck!

If it's a refin like the OP said, then it could be a 650 with a Best Decals replacement logo, but since he said it came from Japan, it's almost certainly the SL-145.

Ah, you are right dg. I forgot about the refin. I even said previously, that the white background on the headstock is not matching the catalog pics. There is a small possibility that it had a toothpaste logo. Sorry ps43203.

It's all good, I do the same thing, when I can. No worries. Still looks good, regardless. I hate the toothpaste logo's.

Yeah, go for it. I don't like the toothpaste logo either. But for how much? I bought my '86 model 6 in mint condition for 550$ BIN last year
