    That's probably right.
The specs do say it has a floyd lock nut.

    • First online retailer I could find with street prices: http://www.worldmusicsupply.com/charvel-guitars.html

I think that flat gray $299.00 Skatecaster will become a mod project

yep. you never hear anyone getting their panties in a knot over that one. it is always said, "oh, charvel was a hot-rod guitar!!"

if you guys want to keep buying your vintage '80s style charvel guitars, that's cool, but remember in order for you to get a pro mod, charvel has to stay in business. it does not hurt the charvel brand to offer up something new and different. just because you think that guitar music lives and dies with ratt and whoever else was a one time charvel player, doesn't mean that everyone wants to buy a pro mod....

i have played a few, and personally....i think they suck!!
        GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

        and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

        • Just offering my opinion. I hope this model is successful and I'll gladly eat humble pie if they are still selling well in eighteen months time. I just don't think that they do that well but we will see....

            • Any possibility of getting some photos of the prototypes built by Mike Shannon? That single cut is easily one of the nicest looking LP-style guitars i've ever seen, the lines are just perfect.

I have to agree... Nice single cut! But... Why did they put some much knobs (like a regular LP), I would have been all over it if it had one plain and simple volume.

                • The Vol, Vol, Tone, Tone config doesn't bother me so much, even though i usually prefer a single volume pot as well, i'd probably feel that something was missing if there wasn't an extra three extra knobs on an LP-style guitar.

Hmm, ~$650 for the higher-end model isn't too bad if you think about it, neck-through with EMGs, Floyd, abalone binding and inlays... Yeah it's made in China but i'm very curious to try one of these out.

                  • I totally didn't think the actual price would be that much less then the msrp. 650 for a floyeded lp shaped guitar with emgs and binding is an ok price. Will be competitive with epiphone.

Ohh, correction, SD blackouts. They're cheaper but I've heard better things about them then emgs.

The beauty of a Les Paul can be the sepate volume and tone knobs for each hum that you can blend.

I have the SD mick thompson blackouts in one of my Charvel's and they're much better than emg's I've used.

                          • Could have been something great from charvel here, but they have played right into the hands of ESP/LTD and schecter.

They look extremely like schecters and they're made in China, perhaps the same factory.

                            • What happened to that chick from the old Charvel site? Amy I believe??? I have cash...

Anyway, this new line made in (enter 21st century "C" word here) just increased the value of the older models. Thank you!

Isn't that the point? If J/C keeps the Pro-Mods, etc. then who does this hurt?
