Yep. I got it! Love the look. Whatever they put on the neck for the trip to the US was tacky, bumpy, etc. but after a light rubbing on the back of the neck with steel wool, it's silky goodness.

I'm a passive pickup guy and thought that a b/w zebra duncan custom would look bad ass but I'm holding off on the swap for now.

I can post pics but the ones in the thread are going to be way better than anything I can do. I'll post pics if people start screaming.

      • Does the neck pocket have any angle to it. In the pics it looks like the floyd is flat mounted to the body. Can pull up on the floyd?

Yes, it's angled but there is just a little pull up. Obviously not like on a recessed trem. It's very similar to my Slime Green SD1 or my pointy reisssue where it floats a little above the body.

SWEET! Congrats! I want one yesterday!

Quick question. In some of the pics I've seen, the fretboard looks finished. Is that the case?

Thanks! Compared to other ebony boards I have, it does look to have some kind of light coating on it ...probably the same stuff that was on the back of the neck. I don't think it's permanent though. I'll take a closer look tonight to see what a light wiping with fret board cleaner looks like.

                • Anyone with more pictures or information? I did not like the #8 at first but it has really grown on me. In fact, I am in the process of selling a guitar to finance one. I have already ordered the 37mm Big Block for it. I am curious about the "coating" on the ebony fretboard.
No honey, I have always had this Jackson....

here's a few pics of mine that I picked up a few weeks ago. Its a nice dark metallic charcoal, not black. pretty awesome looking in person, IMO.

                      Nice!
Glad to hear about the charcoal color. Maybe it will not show finger prints as easily.

                      • yeah fingerprints arn't as visible as it would be on a black guitar. the gray flames tend to hide it a little too.

                          • Are the flames paint or a decal? They look a little raised above the Dark grey paint?

I was wondering the same thing. The outline of the flames look raised but I assume they are not. Is this correct?
