^^ thats a great idea too. Have you tried wiring the stock pickups that way? Or are they already like that stock? Its been a long time since ive had my avengers

Even though I purchased the Seymour Duncan Invader, I changed my mind. I ordered a bridge Duncan Hotrail and a bridge Duncan Coolrail and will add that with the Duncan neck Coolrail. I'll take a few pictures once it's finished. Thanks again for all of the advice!

IMHO you made the wise choice, padawan. I'd love to be able to choose between 2 different bridge pickup tones.

I have a fusion special which is basically the same guitar with the shorter scale. There is no denying that the single coil pickups on this guitar are the weakest link. I used a dremel to modify the pickup route and installed a full size bucker. Made a ton of difference. I also ordered a cheap floyd copy of ebay and replace the saddles on the schaller bridge to make it a double locker. Now it not only plays very well, it stays in tune and sounds awesome too. I had an evolution in it at one point and that pickup sounded fantastic in there!

Is there a double-locking bridge that will fit this without modifying the posts?

Yeah, OFR, Schaller (jt590), cheap schaller clone, or you could just change the blocks and screws to the locking type. I know one member has done that successfully.

I've hit a bit of a wall with this project. It seems that because the wires come out of the middle of the Duncans, I can't fit 2 in the bridge cavity. I'm now going to install the Seymour Duncan Hotrail in the bridge, keep the stock middle pickup and then use the Duncan Coolrail in the neck position.

The only issue I see is that the cool/hot rails have the wire coming out the side so it wont just drop in if I remember correctly. I had to carefully cut some of the insulation near the pickup so that the wires would slide under the pickup then out. Of course, if the path is drilled directly at the center(through to the bridge pickups then to the cavity) then it may not be a problem.

To be honest the hot/cool rails are the only ones ive tried other than the jackson j200r and im not sure of their oitput, but they drop right in.

That's the stock Jackson pickup and it's extremely low output

Edit- forgot that your middle position is at the bridge yeah theyre not hot enough for that spot.

I ended up putting the Seymour Duncan Hotrails pickup at the bridge, leaving the middle pickup stock and then installing a Seymour Duncan Coolrails into the neck.
