I believe there were 8 versions. The last was the HRF Chrome flame.

I've heard that the MIM guitar necks are actually made in the US.

          Anybody know for sure?

I regards to the Floyd Rose on the Pro Mod models...or any model really, are they selling the cheap version with the zinc saddles and sustain block?

the mim necks used to me made in the usa. they sucked at frets in mexico. the floyd specials are the only ones with zinc saddles.

The understanding was that the bodies and necks were rough cut in the US and then shipped over the line to Mexico for the labor intensive work. Seeing as how the US and Mexico factories are less than 100 miles from each other, It's pretty much a wash IMO as to location = quality. It's more the quantity that produces less polished work.

                  Correction: more like 180 miles

For the price I don't think you can beat these. I'm seriously thinking about picking up a So-Cal soon.

                      Thanks Rich#6 for the reply.

I have heard that these are discontinued, at least temporarily. Could anyone confirm or deny this? I'm looking at getting a black San Dimas and I've been having a difficult time finding one here in Europe. Music Zoo has one but bringing it over here would be too much. Thomann has none, and others as well. Has the supply gone down since the tsunami or are they phasing them out?

The Japanese factory has closed, so yes these are gone until they can find a new place to make them( I really hope these are not gone for good)

What are the chances that the ones from the next factory, if they continue to make them, are even better than the Japan models?

Honestly, I wouldnt expect anything but a USA to be better than a Japanese one... as a matter of fact, the general consensus was that the MIJ promods were better than most USA ones. Fretwork, fit/finish and overall feel was as good, if not better than the earlier USA models. That being said, Id like to see them made in Mexico, at least its on the same continent as us and they arent commies!

If they started making them in Mexico, seems like the price would drop down to about $500. Wouldn't they be about the equivalent to the Fender Standard MIM strats? But I'm sure they would want to keep them priced over the desolation series prices. I had a MIM strat, sold it to a friend. He plays it more and likes it more than his Gibson Historic Reissue. Go figure.

Nah I doubt they would drop the price... theyll use the Floyds, Duncans and the Charvel name to justify the the same sticker price.
