the fender blacktops with a floyd special are 550. now add the dimarzio or seymour duncan pickups, better trem, oiled qtr necks with compound radius (that they probably can't do in mexico) and there goes the lower price . I don't think the fenders even come with a case

If they started making them in Mexico, seems like the price would drop down to about $500. Wouldn't they be about the equivalent to the Fender Standard MIM strats? But I'm sure they would want to keep them priced over the desolation series prices. I had a MIM strat, sold it to a friend. He plays it more and likes it more than his Gibson Historic Reissue. Go figure.

The Fender Pawn shop series are going from MIJ to MIM, but the prices are staying the same. They look to be using the slightly higher end "Classic Player" materials, which is keeping the price comparable.

Finally got my WC 7 on saturday.really cool axe, nice color, but i can't believe the PU poles aren't centered with the string.That looks really odd.
I'm also a bit puzzled between the 2 PU. The bridge is really hot, and even if the neck one is a single coil, i'd never thought the output difference would be so big. You can't switch from one to another in the middle of a song, you'd kill people !!!!

I noticed the string misalignment on the neck pickup in the online pics on all of them as soon as they hit the market and yes that neck pickup is super weak.
I don't think the pole to string offset matters that much soundwise, it's just a real low output pickup.
The difference in output between it and the JB in the bridge is pretty large.
I've had a hotter neck pup sitting around waiting for a Duncan Custom bridge that I'm going to drop in it as soon as it arrives. I've switched to the Custom on all my Charvels so this was planned before my #7 arrived.
Other than that the guitar is pretty damned nice!

Interesting. Well, the voices in my head have been going back and forth about getting a pro mod. After work on Thursday I think i'll go check them out and let my fingers make the decision. Besides, it's about time I started my own NGD thread.

what kind of single coil PU would you put to replace the stock one and that has a good output and still that strat kinda sound?

Yup, the strings are way misaligned on my WC7 to the single coil. No biggy really, not like its a manufacturing defect, thats just how it is.

That's why many singles at the neck are at an angle. Not sure why charvel stopped doing it.

You could put in a rail style pickup and not worry about it.

still whaddya guys think about puttin a DM cruiser neck and keep the seymour in the bridge? can that work out ?
