Yeah I'd really like to find a So Cal pro-mod in white or maybe even red if I could. Oh yeah!

      From the factory...

A friend of mine just opened an instrument shop in my area and he happens to have a Charvel dealership. Says he got four of the last to come out of the factory before the doors closed. Got one of each color, he kept the white one and sold me this one. It's one of the best players I've ever owned...

I'm sure you know what they're for... I'm about to try 'em out. 1/16th" each... they were the "wings" on some cabinet hinge parts.
      Should do the trick.

No, I don't. I just got done piecing together a white San Dimas and didn't need those, so I'm not sure what they are for. My only guess is a shim for the neck?

I dont know what they are for either:think: care to share?
Anyway i had this experience with my MIJ so cal, IF i was to be blindfolded and then handed my USA san dimas pro mod and play that one for a few and then was handed the MIJ so cal and played that one a few and then was asked which is better?
I would say the MIJ so cal everytime! The fret work and rolled edges make these feel like a old played in guitar that has to be experienced to understand/beleive what i mean. And the fret work is OUTSTANDING on mine. my action on this one is less than a 16" at the 12th fret with NO buzz and NO dead notes anywhere!
I would swear the neck was PLEK'd if i did not buy this MIJ brand new

Yeah, sorry for delay, there... I'm not sure about the rest of these, but I've read that it's fairly common that they were built w/o any adjust-ability in the pickups. My neck (edit: "neck pickup" that should say) needs to come up and it's straight-to-wood. Going to use these shims so that the pickup stays mounted solid, but I can come up 1/16th at a time.

When I received the San Dimas, I had just gotten my 650XL back from "my guys" - who had just purchased their new PLEK box - and it really feels like the new neck is just as clean as the freshly cleaned board. Of course the frets are fresher on the San Dimas, but the 650 doesn't have all that much play time on it, either.

                    There's a couple...
(edit: aha, glad you asked for these, reminds me that I need to adjust the pups on the 650, too. SF Guitarworks is usually so thorough, but they dropped the ball on this one)

Is that 650XL black or metallic black?

It's the stock metallic black, but over the years it has aged with a bit of green and other shades. This pic was part of the ad posted by the previous (original) owner...

Hey surfreak - thanks for your guidance on this. I picked up a Pro Mod San Dimas yesterday (Snow White) brought it home, plugged it into my 5150 combo and fell in love! So much, in fact, that I was compelled to put my Model 6 up on Craigslist - never thought I would do that, but the neck on the Pro Mod feels amazing. Your post clinched it for me, so thanks!!

By the way - the guy I purchased it from is a luthier so I asked him about the truss rod situation with these guitars. He said it's actually a better design than the standard configuration because the truss runs all the way to the end of the fingerboard. This ensures that you don't get the 12th fret bow that can happen with standard truss rods. Just sharing what he told me - I'll leave it to the experts here to confirm this piece of info.

I have a 550XL the same color, same green flakes. Must have been a popular color for that year.

Last weekend I walked into an old music store in Clinton, tn to see they were a charvel dealer. Up on the wall was a brand new white San dimas mij for 699. I bought it on the spot and it kills my USA SoCal
