NGD! Charvel DST-1 ST Trans Blue Smear Star Wow!!!

After GASing over vintage Charvel Stars and being crushed by the prices these guitars bring, I decided to pull the trigger on this new Charvel DST-1 ST in the Trans Blue. Got her for $530 shipped new in the box! I went with the stop tail since I have eight Floyd equipped guitars already. I have to say, she is a beauty. The abalone binding looks awesome against this color. Overall build quality is very good. She does have that very defined paint ridge from the bare neck to the body paint. Not an issue when playing but you can feel it. Neck is smooth and fast, feels very good. Decent fret job. No sharp ends, decent polishing. Not as good as the USAs but still very good. I got a well built one as there is not a ton of filler around the bindings. A few of the fret markers are slightly off line as I have seen previously discussed but nothing that looks bad. Overall this is a very well built axe and she sounds killer. The EMGs are well mated to the Mahogany body. Very good acoustics and it screams when plugged in. I play through a Peavy 6505+ into a 4x12 with V30s and Eminence Governors in an X pattern and also through a Marshall JMD-1 through a 2x12 with V30s. Sounds awesome through both heads/cabs! A Rock and Metal machine! Overall, even though she is not a vintage star...She is a real keeper! In my book she is a 10! Hope you enjoy the pics...I did the GTWGITS for the forum vets!

Are cases for star guitars easy to come up with? Stars are cool looking but I run the tips of pointy guitars into crap all the time. I'm wanting a Soloist version of one of these.

That is the next thing I need to get. I have not seen a lot of them for sale. but admittedly I have not been seeking one as this is my first Star shaped guitar! I think the Kelly type cases might fit the Star models...anyone have knowledge of this?

I dig the new Desolation Stars, especially the trans red one non-Floyded. I would even consider swapping my Model 3 for one if the opportunity arises in the future. Congrats!

I'm 99% in for getting one of these in the next couple of days. Floyd'd with the hardcase, can't decide on blue or black.
Blue looks nice but I already have 2 blue guitars. Maybe a NGD for me soon.........my 1st Charvel too.

I will have to check when I get home tonite and update the post concerning the serial#. I know we cringed on the China builds and I imagine it will take a while if ever to reach the Japanese quality level but I have to say for the price my Star is a damn well built and good looking/sounding guitar. You can do ALOT worse in this price range...
