I picked up this guitar today at a local Sam Ash, but I can't figure out what model it is. The guitar weighs 8.5 lbs and has the double-locking German Schaller Floyd Rose bridge. I don't believe the bridge is original because it doesn't seem to fit the guitar properly. I'm not sure what kind of humbucker pickup is in the bridge position, but the two single coils are Jackson pickups. Both the neck and body have binding. I'd appreciate help in figuring out more about this model and what it is.

Yup, not a Charvel... saw that guitar the other day in the store, looked pretty good until I got close and realized it wasnt a Charvel body. Decent 475 Deluxe neck on it though. Not bad for $200 I guess.Imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. Hi... Im in... Delaware...

eBay Ad doesn't state that it is not a Charvel body...shame, shame, now that you know. I think the "Style" in the title is misleading, just like what happened to you...but I am not the Charvel police so.......Last edited by BigE13; 07-16-2012, 07:20 PM."Rule number one: In my van, it's Rush. "I know very little about this guitar." Where does it say anywhere in the description that this is a Charvel body? I know forum people like to nit pick, but no where does it say it's a Charvel body and there's nothing misleading. In fact, a guy emailed me and the first thing I told him was that I don't think it's a Charvel body. It's a really nice guitar and it shouldn't be implied that I'm trying to scam anyone. That's about as generic of a description as could be.

Well, since we are nitpicking, omitting the fact that it is not a charvel body when you know full well it's not a charvel body is misleading at best. Whether you answer people's questions when asked is another matter. I note that the question you said you responded to has not been published on the auction.
Also, you states in the auction that it plays "beautifully" and that the action is "spot on", but stated here that the bridge doesn't fit.
I don't think you're scamming, buyer beware etc, but I agree with Racer and E. I personally would have offered more disclosure and been a bit more careful with the description.
You came asking for people's opinion on what it is, and people helped you out. Bit of a stretch to get upset that they don't agree with your description.

That's a very sweet neck as well. If the body isn't plywood, I wouldn't see why this wouldn't be a keeper at $200 (assuming you like it).

I own over 50 guitars, so it's not something I'd play. And if it's not a Charvel, it wouldn't fit into my collection. I went ahead and updated the listing to state it isn't a Charvel body, although I think it was implied anyway. As far as taking it back, I had an argument with the manager who refuses to acknowledge it isn't a Charvel. Despite not being able to tell me what model it is, he insists it is a Charvel. I might just go ahead and return it anyway, but I'm sure it will just be repurchased by someone else that believes it is a Charvel body.

Which manager? If its Jason (tall, bald), Id be pretty surprised, hes usually a pretty decent dude. Its pretty obvious that they knew it wasnt a Charvel considering the $199 price. A few months back they had a blue lefty 475 deluxe that was $300-$350, so they know how to price one accordingly. Regardless of it being a Charvel or not, they should take it back no questions asked.
Thats kinda why I dont like dealing with that particular Sam Ash now a days. Their attitude is less that stellar, almost snobish while most of the guys right nextdoor at GC are atleast friendly. Now granted, both stores sell mostly the same garbage so its really just the lesser one of two evils. Back in the mid-late 90's when I started playing, I bought all my equipment at Sam Ash... knew the head manager and some other cool guys that worked there. Everyone cool has pretty much long since left that place.Last edited by RobRR; 07-17-2012, 11:05 AM.Imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. Hi... Im in... Delaware...

I stopped going into Sam Ash after an incident last year. I talked to one of the guitar guys about selling a Jackson. I had a printout of the specs and pictures. He told me a price that he'd pay. I drove back and got it, went in and he said it wouldn't be a problem. Then he goes and "talks to the manager" and offers me $100. The neck alone was worth double that. I just asked him why he told me he'd give me another amount and then wasted my time. I only went in there because my girlfriend's son told me about this guitar. It is a really nice playing guitar, but considering the amount of guitars I already own, it wouldn't have any value to me. It's really pointless to purchase guitars from Sam Ash or GC, the best deals are almost always on Craigslist.
