Neck backshape is dead-on identical. Action is super low and very nice. More of a D shape than standard C shape. It's considerably thinner than a Pro-Mod, more like Model Series thickness... thin but chunky at the sides. It's already all-vintage... body is late 80's, neck, early 90's.... lol

Neck needs to be doweled and re-drilled, need a pickup ring. Got the EMG 85 that'll go into it. Still a bit of work left, but so far it's so close to my CS Jackson, I'm certain I'm gonna keep it, at least for a good while. Still under $400 on it.

Funny, the bridge came off my Jackson Strathead... Intonation without adjustment is almost perfect, except for the high E. Definitely intonated close enough to play shows with... dunno if I'll re-dowel it to take up the .5mm gap between the neck and pocket at the bridge... not sure if I want to re-intonate all the strings since it's almost spot on right now.

I've seriously been thinking about building a veneer or cap Quilt top 1H or HSS non recessed trem strathead with a Pro mod neck myself, although I'd really like a solid two piece Birdseye Maple or Curly Maple body. Truth be told I could have a million of these and still want more.

A 0.5mm gap at the end of the heel? Some of my Jap Pro Mods have come with a 1.5mm gap! I wouldn't worry about it if it intonates and if one side is tighter you can always shim it with a few business card strips to equal it out. I personally think a tight fit is a no no and certainly a gamble, as if the neck swells, the poly paint on the corner of the heel is usually the first to give and chip/crack as that doesn't move.

I have a Jackson Pup ring you can have if it's suitable, it's short, but it is off a '90's Stealth LT bridge and carried a J90-C, it's tapered from 5mm to 3mm and has a, (Not huge) 70mm opening. 37mm and 81mm mounting hole spacing and it's 88.5mm wide. But I think post from UK is gonna run at $5, probably less and maybe take 10 days, probably less. Any good to yer?

Or get a Seymour Duncan (Pro Mod Type) oversized one off Banjomikez on Ebay? They are wider internally (72mm) and 90.5mm externally and the holes on those almost marry up, being 37mm x a slightly wider 81.5mm and a straight 3mm high and they are for F spaced pups, hence the big gap between the pup and pup ring on a pro mod neck pup. Donno of the hole spacings are supposed to be universal or if the Duncan rings are imperial sized.

I only use Dimarzio rings now, as I'm obsessed, F spaced - just (70mm like the Jackson ones), but the externals are very damn close to the pup rout cavity of Japanese pro mods as they are squat like the Jackson rings. Externally, in plan, they are exactly the same size as old Jackson rings. but holes are 37mm x 80.5mm and they're higher - 6mm-4mm high for necks rings. Yeah found that out the hard way when I used tape as a guide on the first one I did, trying to get it perrfect....grrr. Second one I did I just did by eye. 70mm may take an F spaced Duncan pup just, so long as the tape or coil does not run wider than the bobbins, as the bobbins are 66.6mm wide but they are more designed for Dimarzio F spaced pups which have normal bobbins but wider spaced poles within them, as opposed to Duncans which have wider spaced poles and a longer bobbin.

I'm not familiar with the larger Jackson pickup rings, but that rout looks massive. Banjomikez should be able to hook you up with a black Duncan pickup ring that should cover it.

Headstock shape is a bit different, but the neck profiles are really close. The Charvel neck is a little thinner, but it's the same profile really. The model on the headstock designates it as a CSM-DLX. It would have had a traditional strat body with front loaded electronics for non-US markets.

I'm not worried about the neck shifting, I'm never really going to take it anywhere... it'll just be at the house or in the studio full time. And like I said, the trem is intonated almost perfectly... two strings are out, one of them barely noticeable, the high E certainly needs to be adjusted, but it plays great. I dunno how it sounds yet, obviously, acoustically it's a bit thin.

I already have a couple of pickups with rings coming from ebay. Made sure to buy ones that are returnable in case they don't fit, but with a little luck I should be good.
