  • Model4 vs model6 simple question

Ive owned two good guitars,a model6 and a japanese soloist, and i liked the model 6 over the soloist.
I sold my model 6,wich i am still kicking myself for.
Well i have been checking out a model4 online. Aside from preferring neck thru over bolt on,or vice versa, does the model 4 come close to playing as good as the model6 or jap soloist? My model 6 had unbelievably low action without buzz, and was amazing, but right now model 6's are way out of my budget.

I still prefer my M4 over my somewhat recently acquired M6. I think the neck on my M4 kills. And I've got 2 of the Japanese Soloist Pro's and I prefer the M4 to those also.

Hope the price is fair if you have to make the drive, gas went back up by 30 cents a gallon.
        M4's are great so congrats.
I'd hard pressed to sell my Model 6 its that good.
        Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I've never played a M6 but I'm sure they're great guitars, as are all of the Jap Charvels. But I much prefer bolt-ons, and loved the M4. You won't be disappointed.

            I have 2 M6s and 1 M4. I like the M6's better, but the 86 M4 is nice.

Oh, and why did you sell the M6?

I sold the model 6 because im stupid sometimes. It was completely flawless, rainbow crackle. And it was a later model 6 where the lock and the nut are one piece.

Anyways the model 4 ended up being sold, figures. Im going to look at a 475 special on thursday now

I'm not exactly sure when, but whne the Model 6 got the toothpaste logo and locking nut (not string lock) and a few other enhancements, it was renamed the 650XL.

Same with the Model 4. It became the 475.

                      Neck thrus have superior sustain

Seriously, I don't think I care any more. I sort of like the neck thru better, but I have equal amounts of each and play each about the same amount. I did have an issue where I refused to pay more than $500 for a bolt on, but I've picked up a ProMod and a USA Custom Ibanez and broke that amount, and I'd consider spending more than any of my J/C guitars on that ESP Lynch Kami. Damn I want that guitar but not for $1800.

I'm the same way Don I have my limits on the bolt on C/J's but every now and then a special one comes along and I will pay more.
I play either and don't see much difference, to me its the shape of the neck not how its attached to the body.

Good to hear the 475 is basically a new model 4. Its in really good shape for 275$ I should be picking it up tomorrow if they get the roads cleared up good enough. We just got a ton of snow dumped on us.
Im most likely trading my tele for a charvel avenger tomorrow as well. If all goes good i should have pics tomorrow night. The 475 is pretty much a done deal.

There is also a nice 550xl in my area but the dude wants 550 and wont budge.

How odd. I had a lot of snow dumped on me and there is a 550XL for sale for $550 in my craigslist as well.

That is because we both are in the cincinnati area. And we both search craigslist a lot. And we both have probably thought about buying that 550 lol!
