  • I would say a 86 model series neck are the best ones

I have about 10 model series guitars they all range from 86-91 or wht ever you would concider a model 375. But the all have an awesome feel, but the 2 86 model 4's I have seem to be the slime ones but still have some roundness to em. Anybody else think so?

Yes, I've had a preference for the earlier Model series necks as well.

Hurray for me! I have an 86 Model 4 in black / gold hardware.

I agree as well. I have been using the '86 Model 4 since 1987, and I have 5 of them. But some of the other Model Series necks I own are just as good, and very slim. When I try playing anything else, it just never feels right.

The later model 3 necks seem to as thin. That's my favorite.

My 87 model 6 neck is thinner than anything I have played. Including Ibanez wizard II, and ESP.

Model 6/5 necks seem to vary a lot more than than the bolt on model series necks.

I used to think my Model 5 had a thin neck when it was black cherry, but now that it's refinned gray and I have/had guitars with thinner necks, I realize it's actually a fatty. I guess dark colours really do conceal weight.
