Tummy tuck and forearm contour is more extended and cut away on a Charvel and looking at them now, to me, I think they might use a slightly larger roundover bit on the edges of the bodies on Charvel Strats, as opposed to Strats.

Good to see Charvel anal-retention is still alive & well. But I guess the lack of Monday morning quarter-backing and bitching about things that honestly don't matter would be a bit out-of-the-norm.

I wonder what it would be like to see people just enjoy guitars for what they are and realize that a perfect replica of the past isn't going to happen in a sub-$1000 guitar. But I digress...

Wow! i thought the MIJ pro mods were amazing for the $799 and had a neck that was outstanding, one of my best players is my MIJ so cal.
it actually plays better than the USA one i have. the fret work is incredible,it is the only guitar i ever owned that had fret work that was like it was plek'd.
My usa san dimas is amazing too but the fret work is not quite as precise as the MIJ

I agree they are never going to be CS guitars, but hey it doesn't cost $1000 to get the 12th fret dot placement correct and fit a decent Charvel hardtail bridge and tuners does it?

They got it right on the Dreamsicle after all...and THAT was made in Japan, where I believe production costs are higher. The fret dots really bug me because it is by far the biggest distinguishing feature of a Charvel (Or Jackson) model. Only the very cheap far eastern knock offs had wide spaced fret dots.

I am slowly changing my mind about these, they are seeming to me like a lot less guitar for the money than they were being made in Japan.

$800-$900 or not, no way I am lashing out those funds for a traditional, heritaged Charvel model that completely breaks the traditional trademarks it is supposed to be emulating. Plus the cheapo hardtail. Plus the recessed trems. Plus the cheap tuners. I'II pass. With these non traditional features, I can't help but think that FMIC are deliberately setting the Mexican line up as a 'Lesser' guitar, more resemblant of an SDX than a Charvel Pro Mod. More 'Squier, than MIM'. Well up yours FMIC you greedy barstewards, you got it wrong and your greed and marketing strategy is gonna backfire. Until you sort out the fret dots and cheap hardware I am going no where near them.

Unless...unless..they realised folks were ripping the necks off of USAs and Japanese Pro Mods and putting them on their own guitars, so this is their idea of a 'Fuck you'.

Or.....OK you bastards, which one of yous ticked the 'I prefer post 1950/pre 60's fret dot spacing' in the Charvel FMIC research questionaire?

That's a lot of anger for a glimpse of pre-production prototypes.

How about if we see what actually comes out?

I'm looking forward to these myself. The quality of the MIM strats has went up in the past years and so I'm sure that these will be good guitars. Plus, the recessed trems are a welcomed addition in my book. I much prefer recessed over non-recessed. They still have the compound radius and rolled fret ends as well.

Em...no. Sometimes...No not really at all dude.

I'II try and reign it in and cut down on the verbal diarrhea.

Flatpicker's right, I thought about that, it might just be a machining or last minute issue.

                              It's all good.

Hopefully the Charvel team is reading these comments. Unlike the Desolation series, these are being sold to guys like us, and the details are going to matter.
I'm keeping an eye on the details also and won't spend a cent on a MIM Charvel if they don't use the correct hardware.
Using the Fender hardtail instead of the heavier brass one is a fail imo.

Those dots sure make the guitars play shitty, don't they?

Jeezus! I know that's always the first thing I look for...not a logo or anything... Dots...really. I don't know how they ever made a guitar with sharkies work...or off-set dots...or a clean board...

You are exactly why I can't stand talking to C/J people.
