Two things about these that will keep me from entertaining a purchase.
The recessed Floyd. I don't understand why they did that.
The switch to using only Seymour Duncans. I LOVE DiMarzios. Always have and they will always be my favorite pickup manufacturer. I really should have grabbed one of the MIJ SoCals, seems like that was the only chance to have grabbed what was to me the "perfect" production guitar.

I pre ordered my So Cal back in March.. first they said some time in April.. then they said some time in June. Whats happening? These guitars arent rocket science to build. Whats the hold up?

Yeah, but only when ReliableFender is parting out necks and bodies do you know that they have really hit the shelves in numbers.

Maybe because more people either A)like them recessed or B)really don't care either way?

Really? From what I've read most people here prefer non recessed.

Here, yes, but I've actually ran into people that, upon seeing a non-recessed, have asked if it was a retrofit. Most of what I've had have been recessed so I've grown to prefer them. Just something about the way my hand is on them I guess. I don't think either way would make or break a sale for me though.

Either way for me works, the only thing that would stop me from getting one of these is lack of Dimarzio pickups.

Pickups are an easy change but I definitely want the non-recessed trem and just 1 humbucker and definitely no pickguard.

Waiting on a HT I ordered at the beginning of the month will report when I finally get it. Think I'll get an SD1 - just not sure on the color.

I ordered one from Musician's Friend and it arrived yesterday. Got the candy apple red. Wanted the white but they weren't available. The strings were cut too short and the high E and B popped off. The bridge pickup sounded fine but the neck pickup is really low in volume. Maybe there is something wrong with the switch or it's wired wrong. I'm taking it to a guitar luthier who does all the work on my guitars and see what he can do with it.
