  • 2002 Charvel Model A plus

I have one of these is the clear finish. It's a very pretty guitar, but I've never gotten along with it for some reason. To bright and the string tension has always felt high to me, like the strings are steel rods.. A little bright too. I've kicked around selling it for years, but never have. I take it out and look at it and just can't send it out to the ocean (the bay) so I keep it. It's hard to believe that I could have something make of a mahogany body with a quilt top and birds eye neck with ebony fretboard for as cheap as I got that one for. I believe it was $700 brand new and was before they were being blown out. Trem is crapola though.

It seems like this is the forgotten stepchild of Charvel, and even I don't play it very much. What's the deal on these? Just unloved?

Ballsack headstock. That sums up why they didn't sell IMO.

I've had many, always sell them. the necks are too thick and wide. The pickup choices are really bad too. The one from that series I wish I would have kept is the jouryman. perfect necks on those.

I think I'm going to let mine go too. I just don't play it and I need.... (need lol) some other stuff that I'd actually use.

What kind of prices are these going for these days? Mine's in pretty darn good shape.

I think I sold the last model A I had for $475 plus shipping. Not sure if the A plus will bring in more these days. The ones I had in the past sold for around $400(both the As and the A plus I had).

Agreed! Great guitars with an awesome neck. I love my Journeyman rising sun.

They are very solid and I do like the neck. Ballsack headstock for sure. I wish I could sell/trade it for something that I'd play rather than just sell it and pay bills. It's a great guitar from before they all went cheap, I just don't get along with it.

                Got any pics?
                I actually love these guitars.
They are essentially PC-3's with a nicer neck.

                  Over on the right.

This is an old one from around when I first got it.
