  • NGD Model 5

I believe this is what they referred to as ferrari red, correct?

Anyway, I bought it a couple months ago and haven't had time to get to it until now. It is in really rough shape, but I love restoring guitars. The case is in good shape - thats always a plus!

It came with J50s - how are these? I LOVE my model 6 with its J50BC (I have an extra laying around I may use). I also have a bunch of duncans laying around I may try but I'm hoping to keep the vintage Jacksons in there

J50 neck and J80 bridge is a great combination.

Mine came with 2 J-80C's, but mine is an 87, not an 86.

... and I jizzed in my pants. That's gorgeous. Definitely post finished pics please, if not progression shots.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

I forgot to mention, it look slike the 5 way super switch and je-1200 circuit have been deleted from this one. Thats why the pots are a bit of a mishmash.

I could have sworn these all came with black hardware?

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed in this. Are the JE1200s they sell on frets on the net just as good?

There are a couple guys out there making je-1200 copies. If Dave is selling some, they are likely good as he has a stand up reputation. The circuit was pretty simple on those too so it doesn't take any special skills to knock out clones.

Sometimes I wish I kept the original electronics in mine, I just changed them out for changes sake.

I'm not sure about the JE1200 still - I'll see how it sounds all wired up with just the J50s. I'm thinking 2 volume (neck push/pull to split), no tone and use the 3rd spot for a 3 way toggle. We'll see. I'll just wire it up standard for now 2v 1t and the 3 way blade and see how it is, then go from there. Maybe I'll track down a 5 way super switch. Is this the same thing?

To answer the earlier question, the chrome Kahler is a replacement. the seller sent me the original black one which was all beat up and missing parts. This is my first Kahler guitar - I'm excited to see what they are all about

Yes, it lets you set up the 2 and 4 positions to be either coil splits or inside/outside coils from both pickups. I believe the stock setup used inside or outside coil pairs for the hum cancelling.
