Model 5 Project

I got this guitar about a year ago and it was a mess. Fretboard had been used and abused and the body had quite a few small cracks in it so I thought I would refinish it for my son. Now at the time he was only a year old and had this baby blue little jumper thing with white racing stripes and chrome wheels that he loved so I thought I would create that on the guitar to some extent. I love maple boards and I thought it would better with the colors I was going with so I put a new board on it. I'm just not sure if I'm totally sold on the idea. Let me know what you think.

a very happy, cheerful color just to me, it's a bit too happy for a model 5! would be way cool to do matching headstock color and redo that logo. then black hardware.

Appreciate the feedback. I have to say thanks to sully for the fretboard. I would have never even tried it but he walked me through the process and it was a lot easier than I thought.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing.. Well, probably not that color... But replacing the fretboard with maple on a model 5. Maybe a quilted maple top like I did on my Model 6 too. Did you build the board or buy one already shaped?

That's what I'd do too. Not sure if I'll get the guitar or not yet. We'll see soon. But nice job on yours man!!
