  • Removing Jackson pickup covers

Has anyone ever done this? I'd like to replace the J80C pickup in the neck position of my Model 5, but love the look of the dual Jackson pickup covers, so I'd like to take the Jackson cover off and put it on a new pickup (a DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yup, but its got some glue so you'll have to wiggle it out and get the glue-type material off, but its no biggie.
I sometimes put my cover on different guitars when I feel "the need."
If you want to apply it to a pickup it will probably stay there with no problem, otherwise I'd recommend getting double edged tape.

This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

As coincidence would have it, I just took the cover off a J50BC. About ten minutes before reading. As has been said, just yank it off. You will be left with this

When I reattach them, I use silicone. Is that what the factory uses? ^^ It kind of looks like silicone, hard to tell from the pic.

Hot glue for crafting. I did one a while ago on a Model 5 and the old glue rolled off. The hot glue looks the same color as the 26 year old stuff.
