  • Need Model A Plus info

Can anyone offer some info on the Model A plus? I know the basic specs, but can anyone offer some first hand experience with them? There seem to be relatively few posts about them here. What I've gathered is that they're pretty well built guitars. I realize they have kind of a stupid headstock, and the pickups aren't very high output (which is fine for me). I've had a few imports from the 80's/90's (375 Deluxe and Fusion Deluxe) - does the Model A+ compare similarly in terms of quality? I stumbled across one online that sounds like it's in very good condition, with case. They're asking $550, but I have no clue if that's even in the ball park. I haven't been able to find a single one listed online for sale, so I'm not sure what a fair price is?

that's a fair price. they are VERY well built. I've never held on to mine because of the neck shape is too flat & wide.

I thought the A+ had a set of Duncan's in it. If so then no need to change unless they aren't your flavor I guess. I haven't seen on in any of my local shops even when they were new. I wanted a koa model pretty bad

Yep, the A+ has a Pearly Gates at the bridge and two of the Lil' Screamin' Demons in the neck/middle. They're good pickups, but more along the lines of "vintage" output, rather than high output. That works fine for what I play, and I suppose if the pickups suck, they're easy enough to swap out.

I've heard a couple different reports on the neck... some have said "chunky" and others "flat and wide". Were there different profiles? I thought I had read somewhere that for these they went back to the original Charvel patterns for the neck profiles?

Also, I've have varying luck with licensed Floyd's... is the one on these models one of the better versions?

they are all the above chunky and flat and wide. The profile at the nut is what I hate about them. the journeyman and the standard are more like the orignal (95-96s at least san dimas') very different then these.
