  • Going rate for a Model 88?

Guy has one for sale local. Doesn't have original pickup but comes with case and is in pretty damn good shape. He's asking $800.

    I just paid 340 for a beat one. I wouldn't go over 500 for a mint one.

Thanks. I will see if he's willing to drop that price to a more reasonable one.

What Rich said ^....also nice to try it out as there have been reports of "tonally challenged" 88's.

The first one I had didn't sound that great even with a pickup change.

No offence bro, but the one you bought isn't just "beat", a basket case is better description... lol

If its clean, not chipped up, good frets and point intact, maybe offer $600 or so for it.
They're collectable and will increase in value if you put an original J95 pup back in it.
              Good luck!

Unmolested in mint condition $600 tops.
Any mods or pick up swaps 300-400 depending on condition.Added tone knob lower than that.

Yeah, I agree. Ive been on this site for like ten years and remember people swearing that the value on these would go through the roof because they are so rare. Maybe the economy? IDK.

I paid $380 with a case. It needed some help and had an added tone . I think it came out awesome.
