Yeah, not all gig bags are created equal. The modern "super" gig bags are in a whole different class. There are videos with the cases being thrown from balconies, over rooftops, run over by a car, etc.....and the guitars inside survive fine. Do that with a hardshell case.

I ordered a San Dimas Charvel Case and it came in today. It's actually a SKB case with Charvel Molded into the front. Kinda strange as years ago you could get a Actual Charvel made case. If I would have known it was going to be a SKB case with Charvel Molded into it, I would have saved 50 bucks and got the Strat fitted SKB case. The Charvel case was $169. And you can get a Strat style SKB same case but without Charvel molded into it for $119.00.
So now Charvel doesn't make cases anymore, I wish they still made the cool Bow looking one.

LOL true but suck-ass doesn't apply to anything made by Charvel in USA or Japan.

I have both Fender & Charvel Skb cases.
They're both nice, but IMHO the Charvel case is the better of the two by a slight margin.
Cool thing about SKB's is that if they're ever damaged, just call customer support and they'll send you the parts to repair it or even send you a new case if it is seriously damaged beyond repair.

I've delt with SKB for years and just like any great case company, they stand behind their products.
            A+

I think it's a very nice well built case. I was just a little surprised that Charvel didn't make it.

The might not have even made their "Model" series chainsaw cases too.
SKB makes a guitar case called the "66" (I think) anyway, its almost the same as the Pro-Mod case, but doesn't have the logo or the trap door compartment door inside for like $100. They're nice too & they stack up great.

Unless I'm mistaken, very few guitar manufacturers actually make their cases. Even the big brands usually subcontract their cases out to G&G, SKB, etc.

My USA Pro Mod's gig bag has finally gone belly up.. it had a good run and survived lots of miles.. mostly the buckles rusted through and one of the straps came un stitched.. but it has seen SERIOUS miles in all fairness.
