  • Help to identify my Charvel

From looking at pictures it looks similar to a 475. Only instead of having 3 knobs there are 2 knobs and a switch on mine. It looks like it has been modified.I don't play this guitar any more so I am looking at possibly selling it. I need to know what model it is and I what I could sell it for.
    Thanks for looking

It doesn't exactly match a 475 because the electronics are not original. But, it certainly looks like a 475.

As to a price --- what you just paid for it is a good indication of what you can sell it for.

Don't let old threads that involve overseas purchases fool you. Today is a new market than it was yesterday.
For example: in the month of June, I picked up two Model 6 guitars in excellent condition, for $225 and 250. There is no way I am paying $475 for a 475 when that is what I just paid for TWO Model 6's.

BUT, to be fair, that could be the market I am in.
I could probably do much better if I took them global.

that is a 475 deluxe exotic for sure I have one like it( bought it new in 1990) but mine has all the active electrics still inside. these are good guitars, but a lot better with the active mid boost. I would not give it away, Piano guyy must be good at getting deals, I would love to be able to buy model 6 guitars that look as good as that 475 there for $250. I would try to get at least $500.00 if you have the case.

All I can tell you is that you got extremely lucky on the Model 6's. Just like I got lucky on an all matching 1938 Russian TT33 Tokarev for $325 out the door two weeks ago...

I'm gonna guess that pianoguyy is a pawn shop hound like I am.

I bought this guitar on ebay probably 10 years ago. Probably paid $400something back then I cant remember. It does have a hardshell case but that is in ok shape not great. I'd be happy to sell it for $400 or so if someone offered. Where is the best place for me to sell it?

Sorry, it had to be said. There are entirely too many people willing to come here and ----
the eBay descriptions will say something like "experts have appraised this at X-amount"

All of these one owner guitars on sale sites that can be found here having been sold 3 and 4 times.
New members have actually had the guts to call previous owners (long time members) liars about who owned what and when, even though we have years old posts talking about that same very unit.
My personal favorite is --- I bought this new in 1998. Yeah, well explain why the model didn't exist until 2005 and the serial is a 2010.

But, I will take you at your word, that it was a ten year old purchase and not something that fell off the back of a truck or some desperate junkie willing to sell off his guitar for $40 to get a fix.

Now, as I said, I just picked up 2 6's for under $500. So take my opinion for what it may be worth.
But, right now, I have found Charvel to be at an extreme low. A couple months ago, when GC/MF flooded the market with the Desolation leftovers, I saw all Charvel guitars take a drastic price drop.

Yet, if I check the eBay recent sold prices, they seem to be coming back. It looks like I could sell mine for double or triple what I paid.

Dude, congrats on the the killer deals, but the prices you get your stuff for are major outliers for most of us on the board going way back. Do you live near bigtime Oxy/Meth country or something?

I understand some folks will be less than honest when it comes to selling stuff. I am only asking here to get an idea what its worth. I know the guitar is not complete with out all midboost components. Would I be better off selling on ebay or maybe here on the forum?
                  thanks Mark

I honestly think you would pull more money on eBay than here.

You can't sell anything here anyway unless you pay to be a Platinum member.

It's a nice guitar. Keep it and come back here in 10 years. Might be worth double, might be worth nothing. Nobody knows.

I will have to check it out. I currently have 2 knobs and one switch. The correct layout is 3 knobs. Im wondering if im missing any other parts beside the je1200
