  • Pickup options for 1987 model 3

Hi guy's, I want to get a duncan JB for the bridge..do I need a trembucker or regular hum? also what single coils (duncan) may be a good choice.

I do soft rock, pop type stuff and love Dann Huff style tones..

    thanks, MC

The JT-6 is regular spacing, so get that. If you do get F-spaced/Trembucker, it really won't make much difference, but the pole pieces won't line up exactly with the strings, that's all.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Regular spacing for sure! Made that mistake once...

I have an 87 Model 3 as well, put an MJ wound SD Distortion in it...sounds killer but most likely not what you want for what you're after. JB should work great and be versatile. FWIW I put 250k pots in all mine.

Let us know how it goes and sounds!

I have SD TB5 on my model 3 and it rocks. Also i tried 80's SD Distortion (DDP) and ARB rail pickup. DDP is easy to play, but TB5 a little bit darker and precise

I have a 86 Model 3...the model with one trem HB and two stacked single coils. I also replaced the JT6 with a Gotoh Floyd, so I really don't know what the string spacing actually is now, but I wanted to mention the EVH Frank HB. That's what I installed in mine and it sounds and plays amazing. It is exactly the sound I've always had in my head, as the ideal rock guitar tone. It's very balanced, and loud, but not high output. It definitely has a vibe of its own going on.

my 89 375 deluxe has a 59' trembucker in the bridge and a hot rails in the neck with no middle pickup (just a dummy cover), wired with a 3 way, volume and tone with push pull for splitting.

            Sounds great!
