I think the board is an EMG PA-2 pre-amp boost.

I think you may be right, I was looking at PA-2's but they are all of course new ones when I search, and this one is going to be fairly old.
Still can't remember or work out why there was this switch, or where it was located on that other guitar, but that's cool, it's not the original mid boost, which is fine, as they are more suited to certain Jackson pickups.
I did just pick up a NOS chainsaw case for this baby, which was a great little find, for when she's finished.

I don't think that's a PA-2, unless it's been changed. Here's a PA-2 I've got lying around, and it's at least 10 years old, quick connect wires attached to it.

And........we're done!!! Here is the finished guitar, resplendent in an incredibly mint NOS, matching, grey Charvel chainsaw case.
It had been a long time since I saw those pots and switches, but the tech did a good job of using them, along with the Ultrasonic pickups. In the end I used that boost preamp that was there, it's in place of the boost pot, so it's a volume and tone knob on there.
Obviously it's now the colour my daughter likes. We went to the paint shop and she chose it. Looks a bit dark in this particular picture.
We'll see how it goes, it may end up red one day!
It's a pretty great guitar as it is, and I do like the pickups. Finally heard them for the first time.

Yes, the colour is more greener in real life, which is what my daughter likes.
I like the Ultrasonics Joe, well, the bridge pickup, I don't really have any thoughts or feelings towards single coils, other than wishing they were humbuckers, ha ha.
It's really articulate and full sounding. I plugged it into my JVM and it would be a good pickup to use, but they are hard to come by. Not sure what happened to the company behind them, as they did get a lot of positive reviews from that time, and the guy that put this together actually has a set of hums in a guitar he built for himself a long time ago, which is basically an all maple Soloist, so I knew he was gonna like them.

Actually, what I can tell you about the singles is that they are quiet, which is pretty much all I want from a single coil in my guitars. I recently put some EMG's in my CX291 to replace the very noisy Charvel pickups that came with it. They looked good, but were unusable, even though I don't really use that guitar, but now I can I guess....lol...

that came out great, Vic. Great colour and I love the colour of that fretboard. Always wanted to try Ultrasonics. I remember them being high end back in the day, turning up Tom Andersons and other things that I couldn't affordHail yesterday
