  • Charvel So Cal MIJ w/JC11 Serial - Most Desired?

    Hi all,

I was just browsing the internet looking for some reviews of the MIJ Charvel So Cal and I've found a Reverb add stating this:

"Charvel So Cal MIJ w/JC11 Serial Neck (Most Desired)

If you don't know anything about these guitars - do your research! They're the best guitars that Charvel has made in the last 20 years. Forget the new ones made in Mexico - these were THE best Charvel guitars made in the Fujigen Factory in Japan before their closure in 2011.
    (...)
    - Maple neck - w/JC11 Serial Neck (Most Desired)
    (...)"

Does anyone knows about this JC11 serial thing (2011 made)?
Why is it the most desired - for example, because the JC11's have the best neck, better finish, etc.?
Because the JC11's were the only ones done on the Fujigen factory (or where they all made there)?

    Thanks!

He's probably just saying that because it's MIJ. I prefer the MIJ necks I've played vs the USA and Mexi, but they are all great imo. When I finally scrape up cash for a ProMod (or just the neck) it will be MIJ.

Unfortunately because of this they jack up the price. My friend has a USA SoCal up right now for $300 less.

I have a 2011 Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal identical to the one being listed. Mine hasn't been stripped of its finish, but shows what the original Candy Red looks like, unlike whoever stripped the paint off the one being listed.

Never before heard of the JC11 serial number being desirable. Sounds like fabricated sales hype. All Charvel Pro Mods are production model guitars, nothing particularly noteworthy or truly rare. However, I will attest to the American and Japanese Pro Mods that I own as being great guitars. Some owners even think the Japanese ones were made slightly better than the American ones, but I consider my two to be on par with each other.

The seller's description is wrong. He thought it was Ferrari Red. No, that's a USA color (http://www.jcfonline.com/threads/145...=1#post1647713). Candy Red was the red paint used for the Japanese Pro Mods. He even shows a photo of the hangtag that says Candy Red. He can't read.

He states that FujiGen Gakki made this Charvel. No, FujiGen Gakki makes Ibanez, Fender Japan, Heartfield, FGN, and others (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FujiGen) but they never made Charvel.

Chushin Gakki was the factory that made Japanese Jackson/Charvel guitars from 1986 to 2011.

I like how the seller says "If you don't know anything about these guitars - do your research!" and then states alternative facts.

The high price (showing up for me as CAD$1,058.99 = ~USD$800) suggests the seller is trying to get every dollar possible. To give you perspective, the American ones (2008-2010ish) were originally advertised at USD$999 to USD$1,099 (catalog scans and price lists: http://www.jcfonline.com/threads/145...ls-catalog-ads). Even USD$800 is a bit high to pay for a used American one and therefore excessive to pay for this stripped Japanese one. I paid USD$600 for my American one, and USD$515 for my Japanese one.

Butchered paint + misinformed seller + high price = I'd stay away.
