hello there!
i used to be a regular on here a few a years ago when i had some old model series guitars and an early rr24. Anyway, this thing called 'adult life' kicked in and this meant that i sold those, but I have yearned for another charvel for a few years.
In the spring, i was lucky enough to snag a used MIJ socal from guitarguitar in birmingham which hadn't made it on to their website yet as it had only come to them that week. Sat there playing it for a looong time, walked out the door with hard case and all for under £500. I liked the dimarzio tonezone but i hardly used the evolution in the neck and i think in general I don't like neck humbuckers. I always liked george lynch and warren demartini, and always like the iudea of having an HS guitar, so after much searching (!!) i managed to find an ebay store in Germany that could make me a custom pickguard for it. I went for a blade switch as well as i kept finding myself getting tangled in the trem arm when reaching for the normal 3 way toggle. The neck pickup is a dimarzio area 61 and i find it balances very well volume wise while giving me some added versatility with the cleaner more bluesy tones..
anyway here's a pic!
and here is it's slightly older sibling which i built from parts and painted myself :
