I've got a San Dimas Model I Koa also, and love the twang I get when doing fast descending runs in the lower register. I use it exclusively for any Dream Theater style music or covers that I do.
I don't notice the subtlety of the twang difference etc, I just like the feel and how they play, after overcoming my "bolt-on guitars are cheap and crap" phobia, due to all the cheapest and crappiest guitars you have access to as a kid being bolt-on, so I didn't think of them as premium instruments. Of course I realised many guitarists who could play what they wanted chose a bolt-on, and then I discovered why, ha ha.

Not to say I don't still love my set-neck and neck-thru babies. I love them all, but I have only bought bolt-ons for at least 15 years.

You have probably forgotten about it, but I also did nothing with it for 15 years as the pickups were no good to use in most environments, and I'm just not a strat with three singles guy, ha ha.

This is it from the original Ebay listing. I swapped out that case right away.

I remember you getting the guitar. But I missed this thread with the neato mods. The new pickguard really pops

not just a lack of neck support. Imagine the body sliding about in there.
