  • Headstock Decals

Hey guys, does anyone know where I can get good quality Charvel 'export logo' headstock decals? I want to strip and refinish my M1 headstock, but all the Charvel decals I can find are for the US or modern guitars which have a different logo. I tried making my own but it's impossible without a 'white ink' printer. Any ideas?

    Contact this guy.
They make replacement decals for just about all major brands.
They have the USA Charvel logo, but they do take custom orders as well.
Couldn't hurt to ask if they can do a white import logo.

That and watch evilBay until what you are looking for comes up.

Thanks Rick, will give that a try. The logo isn't white - it's that weird pale yellowish green that Charvel used, but white would be the base ink in the colour mix.

Razor, been scouring ebay for months now but only the current logo comes up :-(

You're after the pointy headstock at the end of the logo?

that pale yellowish green could possibly be from the aged clearcoat

one option is to get a waterslide decal made up in an opaque color but you'll need to do some trimming with an xacto knife or a scalpel.

In your situation since you're stripping the thing, the easiest way is to get the logo vinyl cut on white media, stick in on the black base coat and clearcoat over.
Hopefully the vinyl plotter can handle the part of the logo concerning the machine heads and string posts

To expand on Julz idea, have it cut on masking vinyl, paint they area of the headstock white, apply vinyl, paint black, remove mask then clearcoat to bury and wetsand/buff. this will give you a factory looking smooth finish.
A few Charvels, a bunch of Jacksons, JVM full stack, valve king half stack and an 4000 watt PA for a home stereo, my neighbors love me....

I have refinished several head stocks with out sanding all the way to the logo and reapplying nitro. This way the original logo is preserved. if there is head stock damage that is the reason for refin, make it custom and make the logo your own.

Hey Paranoid, yeah, somebody bodged the headstock and put a locking nut on it (it's a Model1). I have restored the body to original spec and just wanted to restore the neck and headstock properly, but difficult to do without repainting and putting a new decal on.
