  • Photoshoot day: 1988 Charvel Model 1C

Since Photobucket killed my guitar photo albums, I felt the need to reshoot pictures of certain guitars in my collection. Previous thread: http://www.jcfonline.com/threads/149...ig)-yay-or-nay

A cloudy day made for nice diffuse light conditions so I quickly shot some new outdoors photos of my 1988 Charvel Model 1C before it started to rain.

Only modifications: DiMarzio DP151 PAF Pro in the bridge position from a previous owner. Last year, my tech installed a new switch, new push-pull pots, and new wiring.

I have always had trouble with tuning stability even when not using the tremolo, so on a recent setup I lubricated the nut slots and the string contact point on each saddle with a tiny amount of white lithium grease (specifically Permatex brand: http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/pe...-0383713p.html). This tremendously improved tuning stability, allowed me to set up the bridge to float, and I'm happy that the guitar returns mostly to pitch after raising or lowering the bar. It's not perfect like a double-locking tremolo, but this is a dramatic improvement over before.

Looks good, I'd invest in a set of nut files.

Clean up the nut slots, and make sure you lock the strings in the tuners correctly and you should be golden.

I fucking hate locking nuts with a passion.

it just needs pink single coil covers to make it perfect.

                    Very nice guitar!

When I was living through the 80s, all I ever wanted was a guitar similar to this one.

                    Cheers,

                    Tom
