  • 2017 Charvel Style 2 Ash - Reviews?

I have two Schecter PT's that I love. They have great necks and no cutaway on the body. Probably 8-8.5 lbs, which I like.

I'm thinking of selling a Les Paul and replacing with one of these. I may not be a Les Paul guy, so just wondering if anyone has played one of these yet??

    cheers!

I haven't played a Charvel Style 2 either, but if you need to imagine what it plays like and can't find one of these Teles to try out, try to find a San Dimas Style 1 or a So-Cal Style 1 from the same year. They're the essentially the same, except they have Stratocaster bodies (without and with pickguard, respectively) instead of the Telecaster body. The necks should be identical.

Small anecdote... I recently visited a new music store that opened up in my city, one of only two local stores that offer new Charvel guitars, and spotted someone shredding it up on a Style 2. I recognized him as the guitarist from my local Ozzy Osbourne tribute band, except instead of just playing Rhoads on the Style 2, he was ripping up some Lynch, EVH, etc. Guitar seemed to be good enough for him, I suppose. Normally he plays a customized Charvel pointy (likely a mutt) in his Ozzy band so I'd assume he knew what he was evaluating in detail when putting the Style 2 through its paces.
