  • NGD - another chlorine burst

So I didn't really get on with the DK2 I bought a while back... that's gone the way of a *lot* of other guitars...

But I've been wanting a Charvel for a loooong time (ever since I gave @Rsmacker my Spectrum as payment for rewiring my house, in fact). GAK had a good credit deal on this, and it arrived today:

The neck is fantastic, I'm seriously impressed... and the colour is much nicer than on the Jackson, too. Much more green-blue and deep-looking, rather than just a smeary blue.

(Sorry as always about the links: I just can't get pictures to embed on here, for some reason)

Just curious as to what you didn't like about the DK2. I agree that promods are great.

That's very nice, congrats. I've been looking at a Style 1 (Double cut rather than single) for a while.

I can't really give a better answer than 'I just didn't bond with it'... I've had loads of Jacksons and I usually love the neck profile, but this one just didn't feel as comfortable for some reason. I wasn't a huge fan of the Duncan Distortions in it either; I much prefer the JB/59 set in the Charvel (which would have been what was in the Jackson originally too). I loved the look of it, but I found myself playing my Squier more. I'd pick the Jackson up and play it for a couple of minutes then put it down... I pick the Charvel up and I'm lost for an hour

I originally wanted a San Dimas in either Chlorine Burst or Matte Blue Frost, but my Squier kind of scratched that itch (although the satin silver So-Cal looks stunning!). I still needed a hardtail though so I decided to treat myself... 0% finance helped, too!

I'd have to agree. I prefer thinner necks and the DK2's I've tried have been a bit fuller. I'm going to pick up another MIJ SoCal tonight if the stars align.
