Should I? Charvel Model A-1

I have a Red Charvel Model 1a on layaway at a local shop. I need $46 more bucks and she is mine [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

The total price with tax: $216.??


First off, Is this a good buy? How good are these guitars? Does anybody have one of these? The wirings gummed up ( I can easily fix it with my eyes closed) so I cant test the pickups. Are the pickups any good?

I bought a white one off ebay a month ago for $125. Maple neck, great condition. They were about $350 new, so I wouldn't pay any more than $200 for one now. Consider - the universal route they have is shallow, so you have to stick with single coil sized pickups or short legged hummers.

Oh cool. How do you like it? Good tone?

Is it as shallow as all strat routing? (ive had to work around that before to install humbuckers, its not really a problem but rather an annoyance)

Decent condition, almost no fretwear, but lots of moldy looking green stuff on the frets, probably from sitting, that came right off. Plays really nicely - the action is a little stiffer and higher than my Model 4. I've always dug strat shapes with pickguards, so to me I like it more than a regular model 1.

Thanks. You can't really tell from those pics, but mines vintage white, so its more like a cream color. I'm debating whether or not to stripe it (even though I'm not a big EVH fan, I think the black/white pattern is awesome).

That's red. CAR is a metallic or pearl color.
