• Hello all, a new user/Charvel owner here.

Hi guys,
A question for you all, I just bought a Charvel. KILLER GUITAR! But, I have no clue what the thing is.

It's white with a cracked finish I've heard it referred to as "Cracked Egg" Shaller floyd, bound rosewood board with MOP inlays, one Hum two stacked single coils. and a 6 digit serial number. I've looked about and think maybe a 475 but I'm not sure. No pics yet so I know I'm a pain in the butt with this, but if any of you can help, I appreciate it.

Sure sounds like a 475. A lot of 'em were *Crackle* finish. The 475s did have the *Schaller* Floyd. Excellent trems. Is it a bolt on neck? The logo is the "toothpaste" logo, right? 475s were from the 1990 era. Pics are mandatory BTW. If you got it from eBay, let's have a link.

Hi thanks for the info. Yes bolt on neck, and toothpaste logo. Actually I got it from a local music store for 40 dollars and the trade of an effects processor I never used.

Is the 475 concidered low end? I own a few guitars and it feels expensive, but looking about here it seems like they are a bit on the lower end. I really want to know as much as I can about it.

Pics I will try to post some soon as I get a chance.

Re: Hello all, a new user/Charvel owner here.

The 475 was a Japanese import guitar. In no way was/is it considered low end. Actually it was the top of the line bolt on neck guitar

Sound like you got a hell of a deal. I've seen clean examples of your guitar go for around $350 on Ebay before.

Congratulations and welcome to the family

The 475 is the bottom of the line. Harmony guitars are built better. Now that you know the truth, how about letting me take that off your hands for your purchase price.
The 475 is a very good guitar. You have discovered one of the best kept secrets. The jap. Charvels are very well made and can be found dirt cheap. Tekky back me up here but I believe the 475 listed for around $1000 back in the late 80s and early 90s. It was not a cheap guitar.
Welcome to the board. And congrats on your Charvel.

Harmony?! Oh well maybe I got ripped off then . Thank you for the warm welcome, This guitar is extremely clean for its age. Only chip in the thing is a little bump on the tip of the headstock. And some paint is chipped by the low e tuner. But someone already painted it so you can't really see it.

I'll get some pictures of her later tonight after I get back from work. Thanks for the info, anymore would be awesome.

This is quite a nice guitar, I was shocked when I saw it, and even more surprised I was able to get them to drop it for 40 bucks and the processor.

They wanted 399 for it, I said my processor and 40 after grumbling about it they agreed. It had been there for a while I guess and they told me no one wanted a "Glam Guitar"!!!??

Glam guitar indeed... Thanks again guys!

Search General forum "posting pics"

475s are in no way lower end. Yeah they listed for close to $900 back in the day. The inlays are real MOP! I had a 475 for a long time.

You don't need one. There are online servers (pic hosting sites) you can sign up for. Did you find any of my pic post threads? I explain all.
