• Kids say the darndest things

I was playing a club last weekend with my 650 XL. A serious assualt rifle in itself but combined with my VHT, Rockmaster, TCE GMajor rig, a lethal weapon. Some punk kid barely 21 comes into the bar, he keeps looking at me and my stuff. I ask him if he wants to jam. He says,
"I don't wanna play your cheap-ass guitar"

After his comment, I introduced him (on the mic) to the whole bar as Benji from Good Charlotte. He gave me the bird. Kids..
Then I schooled him, in his face, with crushing tone and blistering solos. He grabbed his beer and went to the back of the class.

You should have asked since he was wearing his Mom's make up, if he was wearing hear her panties too.

What club was this? Your gigs sound like fun!

hmm, I am a 22 years old kid who got his first charvel when he was 21 . and a guy who knows anything about guitars will never say something like that (and it does not even have anything to do with guitars, but more with decency, so you handled it really well ), but would ask what kind of guitar it is...

anyway, there are some youngsters liking the old school import charvels and I LOVE them!

when i was a kid all the young guitar players would dream to see a real charvel upclose and personal. i guess times have changed and i'm not a kid anymore.

Too funny, I wonder what if any guitar he plays. I would definitely take a charvel import over any import on the market today.
Just one more guitar!

I'm a 17 year old and I'm rockin' a Model 7. My band plays bluesmetal (a la Sabbath, BOC)... I dont think I'm a typical 17 year old, hehe

At that point you should have put your guitar down, followed him, and then kicked him in the "ding ding"!!!

I'm 16, and if someone said that about my 650xl there'd be hell to pay! Most people my age don't know what they're missing out on with these import charvels, but on the other hand they also don't know what they're missing out on by listening to an acutal good musician...

Re: Kids say the darndest things

When thinking about my own 650xl, I can't help but believe it truly is one of the finest guitars ever built. For my money I have never been able to find its equal.

Having said that, while visiting my brother in San Diego this past weekend we were talking guitars. He asked if I still had "that silver Charvel." At least he got the brand right. This is coming from a guy who traded his old desert sun yello RG550 for a Korean EX series Ibanez.

He was also talking about how he's always on Ed Roman's site and was thinking about driving over there next time in Vegas. I tried to educate him but to no avail.

I think that in some cases you just can't change a person's mind when they've got it made up, no matter how uneducated it may seem to you.
