Then definitely involve the police. They may or may not be able to get it back, but they can bring pressure to bear on the courier company. Maybe they'll talk after a little rubber hose action.

Good News! I'm gettting fully re-embursed by the courier company so should get a cheque soon. It turned out the courier guy signed my name and left it on my doorstep when he was meant to take it back to the depot.
I've finished my spectrum EMG mod in the mean time.
