• Model series ID question

Alright experts, is my guitar a model 3?
I was pretty sure that it is, but I've also seen a few threads with people talking about a model 3 and refering to pickguard routes and such... Is that something that came with the toothpaste logo or am I just really confused? If I'm right, what is the model that has a pickguard and HSS setup?

I would say, yes that is a model 3.

      Yes.

The Model 3 had two different incarnations. In 1986 the Model 3 and Model 3A had a pickguard and a Kahler Fulcrum tremolo. In 1987 and 1988 they dropped the pickguard and went witht he JT-6.

The only "script logo" Charvels to have a pickguard is the Spectrum.

It's because of the headstock isn't it? </font>

          Actually yes.

You caught me trying to block that ugly-ass headstock out of my mind. I'm sure there's some of the eagle-beak headstock'd script logo'd guitars with pickguards too.

So nevermind what I said about the ONLY pickguarded models being Spectrums.

Awesome, I love it when I'm right! Weird, that picture looks a lot less shitty in the forum then on the photobucket page...

I kind of like those ST and STX ones. Anyone know where I could score one?

                    Re: Model series ID question

I could be completely off here, but I had two thoughts:

-A 375 body with a Model series headstock
                    -A Model 2 that's been modified.

You lost me. That's clearly a Model 3.

375DLX is eliminated because the body is strat-shaped, not dinky. Why would someone modify a model 2 to a model 3 and then disconnect some of the middle components?

I wouldn't mind scoring one of those TE Customs.... I am still kicking myself for selling my Model 7.

That would be dumb... I actually want the singles hooked back up. When I put the sd3 in there I couldn't remember which poles on the megaswitch to hook up to, so I just did it like that. Actually, I think I don't understand Dimarzio's wiring because I've run that two different ways and it behaves like a single tone, not volume (no, there isn't a capacitor on the pot).
