Quick Question about woods - - > Model 1A

I have a 1988 Charvel Model 1A, and I was just curious to know what wood the body is made out of.

Its REALLY heavy, which is a good thing!

They are Basswood....

All of the model series guitars had basswood bodies except the neck-thrus (model 5s and 6s), they were maple and poplar.

Well. . . Im really liking my basswood [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] Its a fine cut of wood, they really made them good back then.

Okay, Instead of making a new thread, Im just going to tack this on. . .

Are the stock single coils used in Model 1A'S and all of the other Model Import Charvels hum-canceling?

Because mine buzzez, but I dont think its the pickups, because the buzz is still there just as strong in positions 2 and 4, which on a strat are usually hum-canceling.

The noise doesn't do anything when I touch the strings, so either its a grounding issue or the switch is goofy.

They are J-100 single coils. They have a sheild around the coil to prevent some hum, but essentially, they're just regular old single coils.
